Why Choose Organic Foods?

Industrialization of agriculture before now, we know only organic food. For insects and natural pesticides, natural fertilizers by farmers for food to repel. Genetically modified crops is not yet known. Currently, most of the food we eat to produce fertilizers and pesticides.
Fortunately, in recent years, awareness of natural products began to grow within the society. No statistics, however, in developed countries like Canada and the United States, consumption of organic products have a 20% increase.

What is organic food?
Organic food is food produced from organic farming, a production method based on the principles that are intended to:
• protect the environment
• maintain biodiversity
• respect the natural cycles

The term “organic” refers to the way agricultural products are cultivated and processed. Specific requirements must be met and maintained so that the product can be labeled “organic”.
Organic crops must be maintained in a safe land, not genetically modified and must always be separate from conventional product. Farmers are not allowed to use synthetic pesticides, genetically modified organisms and artificial fertilizers. However, pesticide residues of organic crops is not always zero because pesticides can still enter through the wind, water or soil.
Organic livestock must have access to the outdoors and fed organically. They should not be given antibiotics, growth hormones or animal byproducts.
In order to get the organic label, a processed food product must contain at least 95% certified organic ingredients.

The benefits of eating organic foods;

  • More nutritious. Several studies show that organic fruits and vegetables (egg, rice, tomatoes, cabbage, onions and lettuce organic) contains more nutrients like vitamins, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc and iron. Organic milk contains more vitamin E.
  • More healthy. Organic foods are not formed using chemical fertilizers, chemical pesticides and other chemicals so it does not harm the human body. 50-80% of organic milk has more antioxidants that reduce the risk of tumors.
  • More comfortable. Many people feel that organic food is better than non-organic food. The main reason because the food is produced by means of natural production. Organic foods are also often sold locally so it is still fresh.
  • Environmental Sustainability. Protecting the environment from pollution of land, water and air so as to create a safer world for future generations of life.
  • Animal Welfare. Animal welfare is an important aspect in the production of milk, meat, organic chicken and fish. People feel happy to consume products from animals that are not confined to miserable in a cage.
